Yesterday we rode a very scenic and pleasant section of the Greenway from New Smyrna south down Riverside Drive to US1.  If you really want to treat yourself to a luxury experience after a long ride, I recommend the Black Dolphin Inn, one of the few 4 Diamond Hotels in Florida and right ON the trail.

I was driving west on State Road 44 from Interstate 95 to DeLand when Volusia
County struck me: its oceanfront cities, its river towns, the rural and conservation
lands between. I was left feeling not just balanced, but driving in some existential
comfort. Comfort food came to mind — but then, comfort geography.
Wasn’t the Amendment 1 vote a simultaneous insistence to make us
first again in conserving our most valuable lands?

Florida Amendment 1 Planning - Crucial Time!

Submitted by HerbHiller on
The Florida Legislature is preparing to implement Constitutional Amendment 1 that voters overwhelmingly passed last November. The amendment allocates one-third of the state's annual excise tax on documents to Florida's Land Acquisition Trust Fund (previously known as Florida Forever).  The East Coast Greenway Alliance joins the statewide trails community in seeking that 10 percent of revenues go toward completing a statewide system of inter-connected trails that will preserve open spaces and connect Florida downtowns to our natural heritage.  We urge you to contact your state representative and senator to support this allocation.
