Yesterday we rode a very scenic and pleasant section of the Greenway from New Smyrna south down Riverside Drive to US1. If you really want to treat yourself to a luxury experience after a long ride, I recommend the Black Dolphin Inn, one of the few 4 Diamond Hotels in Florida and right ON the trail.
Met up with friends for a fabulous lunch at Dixie Crossroads yesterday - a Titusville favorite right on the East Coast Greenway. Afterward I chatted with owner Laurilee, a great trail supporter and advocate, about the trail and the challenges of completing it. As shown, a good portion is complete right near the restaurant but still more remains to be done. By the way, Laurilee offers free fill-ups for cyclists who bring in a water bottle, so no need to bike thirsty, although you may not be able to resist those shrimp once you smell the cooking.
We hosted Alex and Nate.who are riding from Chestertown, MD down to Key West. They were visiting people in Gainesville before coming here, so didn't ride all the way on the East Coast Greenway, but they did ride part of it. From Deland they head to Titusville and will pick up the Greenway again to Key West. they have promised to send photos along the route, so stay tuned for that.
