The Director of the Florida State Office of the Rails to Trails Conservancy has put out an urgent request. The Coast to Coast Connector trail will connect the East Coast Greenway to Central Florida and the West Coast. Please help spread the word about this important issue.
Dear Florida Voter:
It’s a savvy investment that will not only create a state-wide trail network across Florida, but will also help attract millions of dollars in revenue to the state’s economy.
But Governor Rick Scott could veto funding for a trail network connecting St. Pete and Titusville — and we urgently need your help to convince him otherwise.
Trails are a great resource for recreation and transportation. But they’re also multi-million dollar economic engines that support communities large and small.
The outdoor recreation economy accounts for more than $38 billion in Florida alone — and completing the network of trails from St. Pete to Titusville will help add to those impressive numbers. That’s why the Florida legislature — under the leadership of Senator Gardener — included a $50 million investment to complete this ambitious project in the state budget.
This relatively modest investment is not only an opportunity to connect urban and rural areas with a state-wide network of trails, but will also create jobs and give a much-needed boost to Florida’s economy — as it still struggles to take flight.
Governor Scott is threatening to strike this important commitment to Florida’s future — that’s why we urgently need your voice now.
Thanks for all you do to speak out for biking, walking and trails.
