Edgewater BridgeThe Volusia County Council invites you to celebrate the groundbreaking of two rail trail pedestrian bridges.  The East Central Florida Regional Rail Trail is about to grow by two more leaps and bounds! Please join us on Friday, January 24, as we celebrate the beginning of construction on two trail overpasses.

East Central Railtrail and St Johns River to Sea MapThe locations for the two ceremonies are:

  • Edgewater Park near the intersection of State Road 442 and Cow Creek Road, just east of I-95 in Edgewater at 9 and
  • The Osteen Civic Center, 165 New Smyrna Blvd. In Osteen at 11.

This is exciting news for the East Central Florida Regional Rail Trail which will connect to the Spring to Spring Trail forming an important sections of the St. Johns River to Sea Loop. It will connect the East Coast Greenway with the beautiful towns and countryside of Central Florida, and eventually connect the West Orange, Van Fleet, Withlacoochee and on to the Gulf Coast with its wonderful Pinellas trail.    The East Central Regional Railtrail is the longest abandoned railroad ever purchased in the state of Florida. When complete it will be 57 miles of paved trail, with enough connections to make Central Florida a first class destination trail hub.

Join Herb and me there this Friday to help celebrate this great progress!

For maps to the two locations check out the map at the Event page (link at the bottom of this page).
